This, my friends, is what is bathing with your child when you think he is getting all nice and clean. I clean my bathroom semi-reguarly and since this bathroom is strictly the boys' and they only take a bath about twice a week(don't judge, they got skin issues :) it really doesn't get that dirty.
But Nathan was watching them play the other night and saw black, floaty thingys in the water, which can never be good. He thinks Aidan has let his bowels go but notices that they keep appearing in bursts...or squirts is more like it. Our kids have this bath toy call a Bathketball, and no we're not from Spain...hehehe
anyways, these little baby goes up in your shower and your cute little kiddies can shoot baskets in the tub. Well, the little balls can double as squirt guns if you fill them with water. Aidan was playing with said ball when Nathan noticed the black, icky floaties and noticed that every time Aidan squeezed the ball, ...well, you can see where I'm going with this.
So I decided to try and clean out the disgusting stuff by filling them with really hot water and squirting said gunk into the toilet. The above picture was the end result.
One word:Gross!
On to more pleasant topics...
This is my darling, sweet, obedient little angel who was caught, again, with his spoon in the hot chocolate powder. Notice the look of glee? Pure joy and peace that all is right with the world as long as the boy has some chocolate powder to lick off of a spoon. ...maybe he's on to something here...

Ah yes, I threw away squirty toys after I discovered they did that. Nasty huh!?!
Em, that was sick.... I can't believe you took a picture of that! haha. Actually a few weeks ago I threw away most of our bath toys because I could tell that mold and what have you was growing inside. I looked up on the internet the best way to clean out the toys, and it basically said you would have to clean them after each bath. Who has time for that?! So, in the trash they went. Now we need new bath toys. Ones that don't get gross. Know of any?
yeah, we just tossed all our bath toys too, and now I give the kids water bottles and plastic spatulas - they're pretty content with that!
That's hilarious! I threw away all of Ethan's rubber duckies when he was a baby cause they did that when he squeezed it...what a dirty mess! Do you think it's like a moldy mildew water residue?
Yep. Pretty disgusting. Maybe we should invent mold resistent tub toys. We could make a fortune!
Well, at least he used a spoon! My baby would just stick his hands in the Nesquik and eat it that way until I started keeping it in the fridge. :D Adorable, seriously.
And thank you for your very kind comment. It was a difficult story to tell, and strangers reaching out to let me know it moved them means the world to me.
We too had to get rid of the gross bath toys. That is so disgusting! Now we just have fake spiders in the bath from the dollar store.
Ugh. I only have one squirty toy, but you can bet I'm cleaning it out with bleach water! I can't throw it away as it's my son's favorite...
However I have my own problem. I can't fill a bath without getting those because the water hits right in the drain and brings up that black gunk from the drain. And yes, I do clean my tub regularly! I just don't have a pipe cleaner handy!
Hey what are you doing around March 20th. pete has to goto Germany for work and maybe that would be a great time for us to come down and see you and your boys! Check you calendar and let me know!!!
